Consistency

  • Consistency is the quality of always behaving or performing in a similar way.
  • Consistency involves being committed to the purpose that you have.
  • If your not consistent at your work, you are not going to be successful.
Types of Consistency:

Aesthetic Consistency
  • It refers to Style and Appearance 
  • It deals with identifying features like brand symbols.
  • For example, Mercedes Benz vehicles are  instantly recognizable because the company consistently feature its logo on all its vehicles.

Functional Consistency:
  • It means different symbols are assigned certain functions that retain meaning across a variety of manufactures.
  • It is important in web design.
  • For example, traffic turn yellow before red.

Internal Consistency:
  • Internal consistency is the consistency with other elements within a system or design.
  • It shows us that the system has been well thought out and planned.
  • For example, park sign in nature reserve.

External Consistency:
  • External consistency is refers to the consistency with the other elements in the environment.
  • For example, the back button functionality is same, but it button indication is different.
