Resolution

  • The Resolution is the number of pixels contained on a display monitor or image.
  • It refers to sharpness and clarity of an image.
  • It expressed in terms of number of pixels on the horizontal axis and number of pixels on the vertical axis.
    • Higher Resolution means high clarity and more details.
    • Low Resolution means less clarity and looks bad.
    • For Images, the resolution is represented as width × height, with the units in pixels.
    • For example, "1024 × 768" means the width is 1024 pixels and the height is 768 pixels.
    • For Videos, the resolution is represented as the number of horizontal lines the video has from top to bottom.
    • For example, "720p" means 1280 pixels (wide) x 720 pixels (tall). Here a "p" stands for Progressive Scan.
